HOW TO APPLY TO MASTER’S

NON-EU PROSPECTIVE STUDENTSEU PROSPECTIVE STUDENTS

The following information is aimed at Non-EU citizens holding foreign academic qualifications and residing abroad.

Please check the instructions for EU prospective students if you belong to one of the following categories:

  • EU citizens (including Iceland, Liechtenstein, Norway, Switzerland, San Marino and Vatican City State) holding foreign academic qualifications;
  • Students holding foreign academic qualifications who have dual citizenship, one being European;
  • Italian citizens holding foreign academic qualifications;
  • Non-EU citizens holding foreign academic qualifications and regularly residing in Italy with a residence permit.

WHO CAN APPLY

In order to be eligible to apply for a Master’s Degree program, you must hold a Bachelor’s Degree (minimum 3 years of studies).

The Italian Ministry of University and Research every year in April issues a document reporting all the regulations concerning the admission to Italian Universities of students holding a foreign diploma. Please check here.

The University of Pavia’s Admission Office is in charge of evaluating your documentation and communicating an official response regarding your admission after your application.

HOW TO APPLY

First of all, please be aware that the University of Pavia offers both “Non-restricted access” (“Accesso libero”) and “Restricted access” (“Accesso programmato”) programs. Check here which category the program of your interest belongs to.

A) NON-RESTRICTED ACCESS PROGRAMS

Programs that usually require an interview and follow the same application timing and rules.

Application calendar 2024-25

Application procedure

1) Go to the application portal apply.unipv.eu and check the requirements of the program you are interested in.

2) Register by clicking on ‘I am a new applicant’ and insert your email address. After this step a PIN CODE will appear on the screen.

3) Go to your email inbox and open the registration email received. In order to continue the process, type the PIN CODE and set the password.

4) Select the degree program of your interest and start the application process by filling in with your data and uploading the required documents (Identity Document + Bachelor’s Degree diploma and transcript issued in English/Spanish/French or officially translated into Italian).

Click on ‘Save’ to save your application at any point, even if incomplete. You can return to it later.

5) Pay the application fee (35 euros) and wait 24hs to have the payment status updated.

6) To complete your application, click on ‘SUBMIT’. If necessary -only before the deadline- you can reopen your application and add new documents, but please remember to resubmit it by clicking on “Submit” after any additional document added.

7) Pay attention to the feedbacks and requests of further actions you will receive via email.

B) RESTRICTED ACCESS PROGRAMS 

Programs that follow their own application timing and rules.

The specific application procedure of these programs can be checked in each program’s call for applications.

In order to apply for these programs, students have to:

  1. Go to the portal apply.unipv.eu and check on each program’s page when its call for applications will be published (usually from December on, depending on each program);
  2. When the call for applications is published, check and follow the specific application procedure (applications usually open from January on, depending on each program).

If the call for applications states that you are required to submit your application on apply.unipv.eu, please follow the instructions on how to apply that you find in the previous section “A) NON-RESTRICTED PROGRAMS”.

PRE-ENROLLMENT AND VISA REQUEST AT THE ITALIAN EMBASSY/CONSULATE

1. FIND OUT WHETHER YOU NEED TO APPLY FOR A STUDY VISA

EU citizens do not need a visa to enter Italy.

Non-EU citizens residing outside of Italy need to start the online pre-enrollment application in order to request a study visa (type D).

2. SUBMIT THE PRE-ENROLLMENT APPLICATION FOR A STUDY VISA

As established by the Italian Ministry of University and Research (MUR), the pre-enrollment application for a study visa must be submitted online through the portal Universitaly. Consult the guidelines here.

Bear in mind to upload:

  • Passport
  • Photocard
  • Bachelor’s Degree diploma issued in English/French/Spanish or translated into Italian
  • Admission letter/Conditional offer letter

Please note that the deadline to submit your pre-enrollment application for a.y. 24/25 is 31st August 2024.

Without the pre-enrollment application, the enrollment at the University cannot be confirmed.

3. COMPLETE THE VISA APPLICATION AT THE COMPETENT ITALIAN AUTHORITY

The pre-enrollment application for a study visa must be completed at the competent diplomatic authority in your country. Check the Italian Embassy/Consulate contacts here.

4. WHAT YOU CAN DO WITH YOUR VISA

With a visa you are only allowed to travel back and forth to Italy.
Remember to send it to admission@unipv.it and upload it in your Student Portal to confirm your enrollment at the University of Pavia.
