ITALIAN LANGUAGE TEST

Non-EU prospective students residing abroad who have applied to an Italian-taught program must sit the Italian language test.

The test is provided by CISIA in collaboration with the University of Pavia and it will be held on July 7th, 2022 and September 15th, 2022 . Registration must be done within June 26th via a google form that candidates will receive from the Admission office. For the academic year 2022/23, registration is free of charge.

Information on the test is available here. The passing score is ≥ 54/72, comparable to a B2 Italian language proficiency level. Students who fail the test can not enroll.

Please be aware that is is an assessment test thus it does not imply the issuing of an Italian language proficiency certificate.

The following categories of students are exempted from the Italian language test:

  1. Students who have applied to a degree program taught in English;
  2. Students who have a B2 Italian language proficiency certificate, or upper level, issued by CILS, CELI, ROMA3 or PLIDA awarded as determined by the CLIQ (Italian Quality Language Certification) quality system, Università per stranieri “Dante Alighieri” di Reggio Calabria or affiliated Istituti Italiani di Cultura abroad;
  3.  Students with an Italian high school diploma obtained abroad;
  4. Students with an high school diploma listed here;
  5. Students with a diploma in Italian language and culture obtained at the Università per Stranieri di Siena or Perugia;
  6. Students with certificates about the Lower Secondary School final qualification obtained in Argentina, which certify the attendance of a study course which includes the teaching, for at least five years, of the Italian language.
ENTRANCE TESTS

A test might be required during the admission process, please check on apply.unipv.eu.

ENROLLMENT

Admitted students can finally proceed to the on-line enrollment by registering in the Student Portal (Area Riservata). While enrolling please enter the expiration date of your study visa in the field “permit of stay”. Always remember to check the dealine for on-line enrollment which can be found in the call for applications of the course.

Before getting started, prepare the following documents:

  • a passport size photo in JPEG;
  • a copy of passport in PDF or JPEG;
  • a copy of Italian tax code in PDF or JPEG;
  • a copy of Italian visa for study in PDF or JPEG if applicable.

Then enter the Student Portal (Area Riservata) with your fiscal code and the password assigned by the system, click on the Enrollment section and start your on-line enrollment. Follow the indications to fill in the enrollment request with your personal information and upload the above-mentioned documents as required by the system.

Once your on-line enrollment has been completed correctly, the system will generate a receipt of enrollment and then you can proceed to pay the first installment of 156 euros through the PagoPA system on-line or off-line. Check here for payment instructions.

FINALIZE YOUR ENROLLMENT

In order to finalize their enrollment, students must send scans of the following documents to Admission Office (admission@unipv.it):

a. Students enrolling in a bachelor degree program:

  • high school diploma (original copy, certified copy or replacement certificate) translated into Italian and legalized by the Italian embassy/consulate or apostilled*.
  • DOV(Dichiarazione di valore) OR CIMEA Statement of comparability.
  • visa and permit of stay (or a proof of appointment).

b. Students enrolling in a master degree program:

  • bachelor degree diploma (original copy, certified copy or replacement certificate) translated into Italian and legalized by the Italian embassy/consulate or apostilled*. In case the document is issued in English language by the home university, no translation is needed.
  • DOV(Dichiarazione di valore) OR CIMEA Statement of comparability OR Diploma Supplement.
  • visa and permit of stay (or a proof of appointment).

*Apostille is only available for the signatory countries to the Hague Convention. Legalization of documents is not required for Belgium, Denmark, United Kingdom of Great Britain and Ireland, France, Ireland (European Convention of Brussels 1987) and Germany (Italo-German Convention 1969).

For students enrolled in the Academic Year 2021-2022:

Documentation must be completed by the following deadlines or students will incur penalties:

  • Documents not submitted by June 1, 2022: academic career will be frozen;
  • Documents not submitted by September 30, 2022: enrollment as “first year repeating student”;
  • Documents not submitted by December 31, 2022: academic career will be terminated.

For the Academic Year 2022-2023 :

Documentation must be completed by the following deadlines or students will incur penalties:

  • Documents not available as of June 1, 2023: academic career will be frozen
  • Documents not available as of September 30, 2023: enrollment as “first year repeating student”
  • Documents not available as of December 31, 2023: academic career will be terminated

In case the Italian embassy/consulate or CIMEA delays issuing the relevant documents, students will be asked to fill in and sign a self-certification in order to finalize the enrollment.

REASSIGNMENT

Students who fail to be admitted, due to the position in the ranking of the course they pre-enrolled in, can request a reassignment. The reassignment can be made:
1. to another course of the University of Pavia (provided that the student is eligible for that course in his/her original country as specified on the DOV);
2. to the same course or in another course offered by other universities; in this case, the student needs to contact the other university for details.

Students failing to access another university’s course can ask for the reassignment to an available course at University of Pavia. Please send the request along with the DOV to Admission Office in order to get a pre-evaluation. Based on the pre-evaluation, they will let you know if you are eligible, if they need additional documents and which procedure you should follow in order to be reassigned to University of Pavia.

The test is provided by CISIA in collaboration with the University of Pavia and it will be held on July 7th, 2022 and September 15th, 2022 . Registration must be done within June 26th via a google form that candidates will receive from the Admission office. For the academic year 2022/23, registration is free of charge.

Information on the test is available here. The passing score is ≥ 54/72, comparable to a B2 Italian language proficiency level. The test failure does not prevent the enrollment however the student will be assigned an education gap to fill in through an additional course.

Please be aware that is is an assessment test thus it does not imply the issuing of an Italian language proficiency certificate.

The following categories of students are exempted from the Italian language test:

  1. Students with an Italian high school diploma obtained abroad or in Italy;
  2. Students with a bachelor degree obtained through a course held in Italian;
  3. Students with a B2 Italian language proficiency certificate;
  4. Students included in the ministerial circular.
